Ile-de-France: Passes for tourists
Paris Visite Card
The card gives unlimited access to the subway and bus for a specified period (1, 2, 3 or 5 days) in zones 1-3 or 1-6. You can activate it any day. A coupon is inserted in the card with a name (no photo) and can be bought in advance. Write an activation date and the card № on it. Its salesperson should give a brochure enumerating the services it provides in some affiliate organizations. Don't feel awkward to ask for a brochure. The card is also available online.
The card provides discount access to many museums, sights, 25% off on Bateaux Parisiens mini-ships, 30% off on the Montmartre tourist railroad engine, €4 off on L'open Tour tourist buses, 10% off in Galeries Lafayette, etc. Find a detailed list of the card's advantages and discounts at this link.
